The Vice President Dr Mahammudu Bawumia has reiterated the call on the Komkombas and Chokosis to cease fire.

He stated that the intermittent violent conflicts were never a solution to any problem but rather aggravated the already high poverty and hunger in the area.

Some Chokosis (Anufors) living at Chamba, a village in the Bimbila constituency in the Northern region have fled their settlement following attacks on their properties in the early hours of Friday May 24 2019.

The residents are fleeing for their lives following recent clashes between Konkomba – Chokosis in far Chereponi district.

Four-person have been arrested in connection with the renewed violence between the Konkombas and the Chorkosis in the Chereponi District of the North East Region.

The suspects were arrested from two separate areas carrying single barrel guns and have been detained to assist in investigations.

There has been renewed clashes between Konkombas and Chokosis in the District.

The clashes have resulted in one person reportedly been shot by unknown attackers.

Jababu Fuad, aged 22, is currently receiving treatment at the Chereponi government hospital.

DGN Online gathered that police and military patrols have been intensified in some communities within the Chereponi District of the North East Region.

Renewed violence in Chereponi left one shot and some communities belonging to both Konkombas and Chokosis burnt.

A 22-year-old Jababu Fuad who was shot on Friday evening by some unidentified persons at Nawieku is in critical condition receiving treatment at the Cheriponi Hospital.
