Speaking during a courtesy call on him by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at the Gbewaa Palace on Thursday, September 3, 2020, Ya Na Abukari II expressed profound gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and the government for the wind of peace blowing in the Dagbon Kingdom, as well as his commitment to the development of the area.
The King and Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, has been praised for bringing peace to the Dagbon Kingdom and by extension the entire Northern Region.
The Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), Dr Joseph Siaw-Agyepong, made the commendation when he led a high-powered delegation accompanied by the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu-Sa-eed, to pay homage to the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, in his Gbewaa Palace in Yendi in the Northern Region.
He said the current peace in Dagbon, and for that matter, the whole of the Northern Region will help woo investors into the region to bring about development.
Yoo-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai has stated that the people of Dagbon need developmental projects and not political violence.
“We need good roads, educational and health facilities, Agricultural inputs and not Political Violence that will retard our progress”.
Yoo-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai stated this when a team of Yendi Peace Centre led by Bishop Vincent Sowah Boi-Naa Bishop of Yendi, Catholic Bishop of Yendi Diocese called on him at Savelugu in the Northern Region.
He said it is important for politicians to use decent words during their political Campaigns nationwide to avoid conflict and urged them to ensure peace before, during, and after the December 2020 elections.
He expressed happiness that the Bishop and the members of the Yendi Peace Centre were in Savelugu to visit him and reminded them to do more at various flashpoints by organizing workshops on peaceful elections.
He commended the Yendi Peace Centre for educating the people on peace and urged them to work harder to sustain the peace in the area.
Bishop Boi-Naa said they were happy to meet him after meeting Ya-Na Abukari II and the Northern Regional Minister Mr Salifu Saeed on different dates about their work.
The Mion Lana, His Eminence Alhaji Abdulai Mahamadu III, has described the policies and programmes of the governing New Patriotic Party as “people-centred”, achieving “positive, far-reaching impacts” across the nation.
“Though I am a chief and without political inclination, permit me to say that the NPP government’s policies and programmes are truly people centred,” the Mion Lana declared on Thursday, September 3, when the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, paid a courtesy call on him at the beginning of a 10-day working visit to the five northern regions.
Ya-Na Abukari II has advised politicians to carry out their December, 2020 general election campaigns peacefully.
He also pledged to cooperate with whoever wins the December 2020 general election for development.
Ya-Na Abukari gave the advice when Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, running mate of the flagbearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC) called on him at his Gbewaa palace in Yendi.
