The days of the week is denoted by the market days celebrated in Dagbon. Thus  Dakuli (or Dakulo) normally consisting of the market days denotes a week., Even though a Dakuli consists of six days it is often used to denote the seven-day week.

There are two sets of market days celebrated in Eastern and Western Dagbon:

Western Dagbon Market Days

  • Tamale daa
  • Katin daa (Tolon)
  • Kinkan daa (Savelugu)
  • Tampion daa
  • Nyankpala daa
  • Kumbungu daa

Eastern Dagbon Market Days

  • Karaga daa
  • Adibo daa
  • Saboba daa
  • Naya daa (Yendi)
  • Gushegu daa
  • Sang daa

when the Naya daa dali falls on a Friday it is known as Alizuma Kofi and it is a market day of significance and not to be missed.
