Do We Only Livein the Moment

I always wonder if the lack of effort in following on our pronouncements is a Dagbon only problem or a nationwide lapse in attitude. Not long ago, after the massacre in Yendi we saw a lot of Dagbamba voice their outrage and disgust in various forms. They mounted the rostrum, called news conferences, visited with the press and swore to see to it that the perpetrators of the heinous crimes were brought before the law of the land.

Again, during and after the elections of 2004 a number of people were killed and molested in and around Tamale. The outcry, once again, was heard from all quarters Dagbon and around the world. As with everything the cries died down and until today nothing has been done either to bring the perpetrators of March 2002 or December 2004. The cries of outrage have uncharacteristically died down.

As a people we seem to live for today, we are quick to forget the past and never plan for the future. With such an attitude will Dagbon ever prosper? Just food for thought.
